Rumoured Tottenham target admits love for Liverpool

Tottenham have been linked with Fulham’s teenage sensation Ryan Sessegnon for more than a year and a half (Standard).

The 18-year-old has however chosen to stay at Fulham after their promotion to the Premier League and is now putting up consistent performances for the South-West London club after a patchy start to the season.

The England U-21 international has scored one goal and assisted two in his last three games for Fulham, and continues to be one of the most highly rated young talents across the country.

The pacey youngster looks like he is set for a great future in the game and could prove an invaluable singing if Spurs do manage to pull it off eventually. However, speaking to BT Sport as a part of their show, What I Wore, Sessegnon professed his love for league leaders Liverpool and said that he supported the Reds while growing up.

“I remember watching videos of Gerrard number 17, there was one goal I remember that he scored against Everton at Goodison Park (in 2001/02),” said the Fulham left-sided player.

“It was a screamer, a right-footed shot. That’s why I remember this kit.”

The youngster also admitted that he wore the Liverpool kit when he played football as a boy. He added, “Yeah, I did. It was this one (the 2008/09 kit). Where did I wear it? Near my house to play football”

“I always supported Liverpool so my dad bought me the Gerrard top, he was my favorite player.”

With Liverpool also being linked with the player in the past, it does appear that the Reds will have an advantage over Spurs if they go head to head for the 18-year-old.
