Rumoured Tottenham target hailed as ‘one of the best in the world’ by teammate

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has heaped praise on his Napoli teammate Kim Min-jae, describing the Tottenham Hotspur-linked centre back as ‘one of the best in the world’.

Napoli are flying high at the moment. They are currently way out in front in Serie A with 41 points from their first 15 matches. The Italian outfit also beat Liverpool to top spot in their Champions League group and have impressed many along the way this season.

A lot of that has been down to the astounding displays from Kvaratskhelia, who joined Napoli in the summer. The 21-year-old has shone since his move to Italy, contributing eight goals and ten assists in all competitions so far this campaign (Transfermarkt).

Another summer signing has also been integral to their success though, and that is Kim Min-jae. The South Korean joined Napoli from Turkish side Fenerbache in the summer and has been a solid presence at the back for the Serie A giants.

Spurs were linked with both players over the summer but never made the move for either. According to 90min, the club has regrets over not signing the player, but could make a move for him next summer when a £40 million release clause becomes active (CalcioMercato).

Spurs would be foolish not to it seems, as Kvaratskhelia has lavished praise on his teammate in a conversation with the Serie A’s official YouTube channel where he said: “He is a very strong defender. For me, he is one of the best in the world. If he is in the defence, you are in front of an iron barrel!”

“You know he will stop the attacker and will not let the opponents score,” Kvaratskhelia added. “This is why he is an extraordinary defender, which is why he is one of the best in the world.”

Spurs Web Opinion

We really did drop the ball on both of these players in the summer, and I really hope we can get a deal over the line to bring either of them to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium soon. Kim Min-jae would be the perfect addition to our backline and would certainly help to toughen up a shaky defence.
