Running track must remain at Olympic Stadium

Any outside hope which Tottenham may have had in moving to the Olympic Stadium have taken a dent after legacy officials nsisted a running track must remain at the venue.

Tottenham’s first preference is to redevelop the stadium at White Hart Lane, but have also registered an interest in moving to the Olympic Stadium which has infuriated West Ham.

Baroness Ford, chair of the Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) said: “Bidders would have to meet the Olympic promise for use of an athletics stadium – that has not changed,”

“We want this to be a mixed use and sports stadium,” she added.

Hugh Robertson, who was made Olympics minister in May, also shares the same thoughts as Baroness Ford.

“Athletics was an absolute core part our bid and it will continue to be part of it,” he said.
