Tottenham Hotspur got back to winning ways in the Premier League this evening, with Ryan Mason securing all three points on his first time of asking.
The former Spurs academy graduate who was forced to retire early due to a head injury led his side out at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following Jose Mourinho’s sacking.
While the Lilywhites were well off the pace in the first half and took a deserved 1-0 deficit into half-time after Danny Ings scored from a corner, Spurs did improve.
The second half performance was like watching a different team entirely, with Gareth Bale quickly getting them back level with a great top corner finish.
Heung-min Son thought he had secured the win after expertly caressing a Sergio Reguilon cross home but Lucas Moura was adjudged to have been offside and blocking the keeper’s vision.
Thankfully, the left-back won a penalty and the South Korean dispatched it coolly with just minutes left on the clock to make it a late Tottenham win.
However, Spurs had to win without Harry Kane who watched on from the stands at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium due to injury. Ryan Mason was asked for an injury update ahead of the Carabao Cup Final.
He said (Football London): “It’s just a case of taking it each day at a time. Harry is giving everything to be back out on the pitch, he couldn’t be today but we’ll see by the end of the week where we’re at.”
