Ryan Mason blasts VAR after Arsenal incident; compares to Son red card

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason has taken to Twitter to question the decision of VAR during Arsenal’s match against Leeds United.

Arsenal can consider themselves lucky to have booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup after the Championship side managed by Marcelo Bielsa dominated the Gunners during the first half.

Mikel Arteta’s side scored the only goal of the game in the 55th minute of the match but should have been reduced to ten men.

Alexandre Lacazette appeared to kick out at Leeds defender Gaetano Berardi in the second-half after the two players became entangled on the playing surface.

The incident was reviewed by VAR and no further action was taken against the French striker.

Mason claimed on Twitter that he thought he precedent had been set with such an incident after Heung-min Son was sent off by VAR following a similar clash with Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger.
