Ryan Mason could be about to leave Tottenham on a major high

Ryan Mason could be set for his first permanent managerial role, with talks now underway between the Tottenham assistant and West Bromwich Albion following Spurs’ Europa League triumph.

We reported a few days ago that Ryan Mason is in contention for the West Bromwich Albion manager’s job.

At the time, it was revealed that Mason, currently serving as Tottenham’s assistant head coach, would have to wait until the club concluded their European campaign before any official discussions could begin.

Tottenham are now champions of Europe after they secured a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final, a win that not only ended their 17-year wait for silverware but also brought a close to their 41-year drought without a European trophy.

Ryan Mason opens talks with West Brom over vacant manager role

With the Europa League campaign now behind him, Ryan Mason has opened talks with West Bromwich Albion to become their new permanent manager, according to Football Insider.

The 33-year-old, who now adds ‘European champion’ to his resume, is reportedly in pole position to take over at The Hawthorns.

West Brom failed to secure Premier League promotion last season, finishing ninth in the Championship table.

The Baggies have been without a manager since sacking Tony Mowbray on 21 April, and with the vacancy still open, Mason is now leading the race to step into the role following a successful coaching spell at Tottenham.

Tottenham fans back Ryan Mason to succeed away from Spurs

Tottenham supporters have responded positively to the news that Ryan Mason, who has spent the majority of his footballing life at the club, may now be on the brink of a new challenge elsewhere.

Many fans see the move as a natural progression for the young coach, one that could pave the way for a potential return to manage Tottenham in the future with more experience under his belt.

Mason has already overseen the first team on 13 occasions during his stints as caretaker manager, and having worked closely with Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Ange Postecoglou, he will now feel equipped to take the next step. With a European trophy to his name, The Hawthorns could be the next perfect step in his career.
