Ryan Mason sends message to Spurs fans after taking over as interim manager

Ryan Mason has sent a message to Tottenham Hotspur fans on social media after being named interim manager of the first team until the end of the season.

Tottenham parted ways with manager Antonio Conte at the end of last month, and his former assistant Cristian Stellini was installed as caretaker manager.

Stellini’s stint as interim manager did not go to plan, with the Italian winning just one game. He was relieved of his duties after Sunday’s crushing 6-1 defeat against Newcastle United.

Mason, who has served as a coach under both Conte and Stellini, has stepped up to become the new Acting Head Coach for Spurs for the next six games.

Tottenham confirmed today that Mason will have Matt Wells as his Acting Assistant Head Coach. Neil Gibbs, Perry Suckling, and Gianni Vio comprise the rest of Mason’s backroom staff.

Mason has previously taken on the caretaker manager role, when he oversaw the first team back in 2021 after Jose Mourinho’s sacking.

Now, the young coach has sent a passionate statement on his Twitter account, promising fans that the coaches and the players will ‘fight for the badge’.

He said: “It’s a privilege to manage this great football club. I’m ready for the challenge and know what it means to represent the club.

“I’ve never taken for granted the connection I have with our incredible fans and will work relentlessly with the players and staff to ensure that as a collective we fight for the badge at all times. Time to prepare and focus all our energy into Thursday’s game. COYS.”

A nice message from Ryan Mason and exactly the kind of attitude we need to see from everyone at the club.

Hopefully the squad can put his words into practice now and at least show some semblance of passion and desire for the next six games.
