Ryan Mason speaks about Harry Kane following final game of Spurs season

Ryan Mason was asked to comment on Harry Kane winning the Premier League Golden Boot in his post-match press conference this evening.

Tottenham won their final game of the season against Leicester City, coming from behind to defeat the Foxes by four goals to two.

This included a goal and an assist for Tottenham’s main man, Harry Kane, meaning he topped the chart for both categories in the Premier League this season.

Kane pipped Liverpool’s Mo Salah to the Golden Boot with 23 goals compared to the Egyptian forward’s 22. He then also beat Kevin De Bruyne and Bruno Fernandes to the playmaker award, assisting 14 goals this season.

This made it Kane’s third Golden Boot in the Premier League and fourth overall thanks to his award from the 2018 World Cup.

Mason, who came through the academy with Kane, played alongside him and then managed him, had plenty of nice words to say about the England captain.

He said (Football London): “Harry Kane deservedly won the Golden Boot today. Like I said all along I think he’s been the best player in the Premier League. Most goals and most assists, it says it all.

“I feel very honoured to have played with him and we had some amazing experiences together, coming through the ranks, and I’ve been very fortunate in these past five weeks to have coached him, to have managed him and he turned up again today.

“He scored important goals in important moments and showed moments of brilliance. So from an individual point of view, I’m very pleased Harry has got another Golden Boot to add to the collection.”
