‘Salary now discussed’ – Fabrizio Romano delivers update on Luis Diaz’s future

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Liverpool are now discussing personal terms with rumoured Tottenham target Luis Diaz.

Until Thursday, Tottenham seemed on course to pull off the signing of Diaz, with the North London club reported to be close to meeting Porto’s valuation of the winger (Sky Sports’ Transfer Show).

However, just as Barca swooped in to hijack Tottenham’s move for Adama Traore (Guardian), it emerged on Friday morning that Liverpool had stepped in to beat the North Londoners’ to Diaz.

The Athletic reported this morning that the Reds are expected to agree on a fee with Porto for the 25-year-old, who allegedly preferred to move to Anfield over the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Romano has now revealed that Jurgen Klopp’s men are expected to submit an official bid for Diaz in the next few hours after Tottenham’s offer was turned down by Porto.

The journalist added that Liverpool are now in talks with Diaz’s agent over his salary.

Romano has since confirmed that Liverpool have tabled an official bid and the Merseysiders are planning for his medical to be undertaken in South America.

Spurs Web Opinion

Barring a miracle, it does now seem like Diaz is on his way to Liverpool.

This transfer window is turning the most disastrous in Tottenham’s recent history, which is certainly no easy feat, considering there is a lot of competition for that accolade.

Unless Paratici manages to pull something unbelievable out of the bag over the next three days, Conte will likely be left fuming.
