Sampdoria reveal clause included as part of Harry Winks’ loan agreement

Sampdoria have revealed in their confirmation of Harry Winks’ season-long loan move that they also have the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the campaign.

Tottenham‘s statement earlier this evening did not disclose whether the Serie A side had any future option to land the England international beyond this season.

Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed late last week that the midfielder would arrive at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium on a dry loan.

The 26-year-old had fallen out of favour at Tottenham and was one of the players which Antonio Conte had to train away from the rest of his first team squad (Evening Standard).

Winks will be under contract with Sampdoria until June 30th, 2023 and will now take the first steps to rebuild his career after a difficult couple of years in north London.

Winks for his own sake needs to have an impressive season at Sampdoria if he wants to put himself in the shop window to make other Premier League clubs sit up and take notice ahead of next summer.

The midfielder will suit the slower style of Italian football and could even find himself enjoying the change of overseas football and extend his stay beyond this campaign now it has been disclosed that Sampdoria have the option to buy.
