Sandro Raniere names seven former Tottenham teammates in his ‘Perfect XI’

Former Tottenham midfielder Sandro has picked seven of his old teammates to be in his ‘Perfect XI’.

Sandro, who now plies his trade at Portuguese side Belenenses, spent four seasons at Spurs between 2010 and 2014.

Though most of his career was hindered by injuries, the 32-year-old became a fan favourite in North London with his combative style of play in central midfield.

He also had the pleasure of playing alongside a number of now-iconic global names and cult heroes at Spurs, which would make an entertaining side when put together.

And when quizzed by FourFourTwo on who would make his ideal line-up of former Spurs and Brazil teammates, Sandro mentioned seven players who previously turned out for the Lilywhites.

In goal, he named compatriot Heurelho Gomes, while almost the entire back four was Spurs-linked which included Kyle Walker, Michael Dawson and Jan Vertonghen.

Sandro then named Luka Modric in midfield and labelled the Real Madrid star as a ‘maestro’ while recalling his ‘absurd first touch’.

Modric’s Madrid teammate Gareth Bale secured a position at right-wing with Sandro praising the Welshman’s ‘phenomenal’ repertoire of speed and skill on the ball, while veteran striker Jermain Defoe cemented the lone striker spot.

In completing his ideal squad, he placed controversial figure Emmanuel Adebayor on the substitutes’ bench alongside current Chelsea defender Thiago Silva.
