Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has just handed Tottenham Hotspur a huge boost in their rumoured pursuit of Tarik Muharemovic.
Cristian Romero looks set to leave Spurs even after beating the drop, and it appears that the Lilywhites have already started searching for a replacement.
Tottenham have been credited with an interest in Muharemovic, who has excelled in the heart of the Sassuolo backline over the last two years.
In fact, some outlets have even claimed that Sassuolo’s chairman has travelled to London to discuss the 23-year-old’s sale to Spurs.

Sassuolo’s chairman sends a big hint over Tottenham target Tarik Muharemovic
Giovanni Carnevali has now refused to rule out a summer sale of the 23-year-old, making it clear that Sassuolo have never stopped players from joining bigger clubs.
Interestingly, the Italian even confirmed that he spoke to a few clubs about a summer sale of the defender on his recent trip to London.
When asked about the speculation over the Bosnian international’s future, Sassuolo chairman told Tuttomercatoweb: “We’re a club that in recent years has always sought to give young players the opportunity to improve and, above all, reach big clubs. It’s clear that those with these characteristics are among the most sought after, and I think it’s still a bit early.
“Fortunately for us, it’s not just Muharemovic. It’s normal to have relationships with foreign clubs too. There’s no point in hiding it. We’ve been to London, we’ve spoken to a few clubs, and we’ll see what happens in the next few days.”
When asked about reports that Juventus hold a sell-on clause on the centre-back, Carnevali responded: “Yes, this is a deal we made with Juventus, and I think it was excellent for both of us. We made him more valuable, and they’ll get 50%.”
Inter Milan looking to beat Spurs to Muharemovic
It was reported last week that Inter Milan are making efforts to beat Tottenham to the Sassuolo star’s signature.
The update, which came from TuttoSport, asserted that the Nerazzurri have already held ‘showdown talks’ with Saussulo regarding the centre-half ahead of the summer window.
The report added that while Inter are looking to offer one of their players as part of the deal, Sassuolo prefer a straight cash deal worth €35m (£30.5m) for their star defender.
