Scott Parker offers transfer update on Ryan Sessegnon

Tottenham Hotspur have already lost one full back in Kieran Trippier this summer and reports indicate that Danny Rose could still follow him through the door before the close of the transfer window (the Express).

Spurs are said to be chasing Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon, perhaps as a Rose replacement, but a deal hasn’t materialised so far.

The pacey wide man is currently nursing a hamstring injury and is still weeks away from full fitness.

Now Fulham manager Scott Parker has offered an update on the 18-year-old’s future. Speaking to the Express, the former Spurs midfielder insisted that the teenager could end up staying at the club beyond the summer.

Parker said, “At this present moment, I expect Ryan still to be here when the window shuts. Obviously, I have read the speculation. Will it affect him? That would be up to Ryan.

“It is not as if the phone has been ringing off the hook, a bid every other day for him and Fulham are turning it down, for him to have the hump.

“I had this too as a young player. But if there is one good thing about the transfer window it is that come 5 o’clock next week when the door shuts, he can’t go anywhere.”

However, the report in the Express maintains that Tottenham are still confident on sealing the deal before the close of the window.

The report claims Sessegnon has made it clear to Fulham that he wants the move and that it is likely to go through in the coming days.

This looks like one of those deals that is likely to drag on till the final day of the transfer window. Based on Parker’s comments, it looks like Tottenham are the only team to show interest in the 19-year-old. This could help Levy get his man for a reduced fee late in the window.
