Second report claims Spurs could battle Man City and Real Madrid for midfielder

The print edition of Bild (as relayed by Sport Witness) have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could face competition from the likes of Manchester City for RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo.

Olmo has had an impressive season in Germany and the versatile attacking midfielder, who can also operate on the flanks, is expected to play a key part in Spain’s Euro 2024 campaign this summer.

A couple of days ago The Daily Mail stated that Tottenham are one of a handful of top clubs who are ‘maintaining a watching brief’ on the 25-year-old with a view to a summer transfer.

Competition heating up for Dani Olmo

Bild have now said that Olmo’s impressive performances for La Roja in the international break pose a ‘problem’ for Leipzig’ as it has ‘aroused desire’ from a number of clubs, including Spurs.

The report asserts that the Lilywhites are not the only ones interested, with Manchester City said to be admirers of the player while Real Madrid are also watching the situation closely.

It is revealed that Olmo has a release clause of €60m (£51.2m) on his contract at the Red Bull Arena but so far, the Bundesliga club have not received any offers for the midfielder.

Spurs Web Opinion

With Lo Celso likely to be on his way in the summer, Postecoglou will be keen to get in a decent backup for James Maddison. However, I do not see Spurs paying upwards of £40m or £50m to strengthen that position, particularly with Albert Gudmundsson seemingly available for a fraction of that fee.
