Selling club want up to £60m for player, Spurs only want to pay £35m – Journalist reports

Journalist Ben Jacobs has now revealed that Chelsea want a guaranteed fee of around £45m for Conor Gallagher but are ‘flexible’ when it comes to the structure of the deal.

Over the last few days, it has been widely reported that Tottenham are now ready to turn their attention to signing a midfielder after landing Timo Werner and Radu Draguin.

One of the outlets to report this was The Independent, who said that Gallagher remains at the top of Ange Postecoglou’s wishlist at the moment.

Conor Gallagher is not close to a contract extension

Jacobs has now explained the state of play when it comes to the England international’s future, revealing that the player does not look likely to pen any new deal at Stamford Bridge in the immediate future.

The journalist says that the West London club’s policy is to listen to offers for any player with less than two years left on his contract, even though Mauricio Pochettino wants the midfielder to stay.

Jacobs adds that the Chelsea hierarchy are looking for a similar kind of fee to the one they got for Mason Mount last summer, but points out that Tottenham was only willing to offer £35m for Gallagher in the last window.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is absolutely no doubt that Tottenham will explore a move for Gallagher over the next week or two, with the North London club having some money to play with after landing Werner and Dragusin in relatively inexpensive fees.

However, with Gallagher seemingly not keen on a move and with Chelsea potentially holding out for £50m, the deal does appear unlikely to go through.
