Senior Spurs star opens up on the influence of Jose Mourinho behind the scenes

Hugo Lloris has revealed that Jose Mourinho is trying to transform Tottenham Hotspur from nearly-men into trophy winners by changing the culture at the club.

It has been a year since Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino at the helm of Spurs, with some questioning the decision at the time.

However, despite the disruptions of injuries and the COVID-19 pandemic, the team has made considerable progress since the Special One arrived.

Not only has Mourinho been able to stop Spurs’ slide but he has accelerated the squad’s rebuild and potentially placed them in the position to challenge for a trophy.

Lloris is one of many players in the Tottenham squad who have come close to winning the Premier League and the Champions League but the Frenchman has nothing to show for his achievements in his eight and a half years in North London.

The World Cup winner remains hopeful that Mourinho is the man to turn around the club’s fortunes.

The 33-year-old told RMC Sport (as relayed by Football.London): “I am lucky to be able to be coached by Jose Mourinho.

“I don’t need to introduce him; he is one of the greatest coaches of the last few years.

“He has this culture of winning, and that’s what he is trying to establish at Tottenham who are in need of trophies.”
