Some Southampton fans were seemingly blown away by the performance which Kyle Walker-Peters put in against Manchester City on Sunday.
The Saints ran out 1-0 winners due to a lovely finish from Che Adams who spotted Ederson off his line and lobbed the keeper from almost 40 yards out.
The home side had to defend resolutely with numbers behind the ball, particularly in the second half when Pep Guardiola’s men started to take control of proceedings.
While the whole of the Saints’ backline defended very well, Walker-Peters was arguably the pick of the bunch as he kept Raheem Sterling quiet for the majority of the game.
Some Southampton fans were in high praise of the right-back’s performance and urged the Saints to snap up the Spurs academy graduate in the summer.
Reports indicate that Tottenham could try and use the 23-year-old as part of a potential deal to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer (Telegraph).
It looks like some of the St Mary’s faithful are already on board with the idea of signing Walker-Peters in exchange for Hojbjerg.
Get his signature on that contract. Forge it if you have to. I want him in the red and white next season.

It would be an absolute travesty if we don’t sign Kyle Walker Peters on a permanent deal.
He was sensational yesterday, kept Sterling quiet & ran himself into the ground.
Please get it done ?⚪️#SaintsFC

Please @SouthamptonFC sign Kyle Walker Peters in the next window. He clearly is the best RB at the club ?♂️

Some Spurs fans were also left pleasantly surprised by Walker-Peters’ display and questioned why the club would allow him to leave on loan and hang on to Serge Aurier.
After watching Walker- Peters yesterday I am not having that aurier is a better option ?

Anyone going to mention the fact that Kyle Walker-Peters has got Raheem Sterling in his pocket or nah?

If Kyle Walker-Peters has gained the much needed assertiveness physically and mentally from his loan at Southampton then there’s no reason he can’t be first choice RB at Spurs next season. That’s what he lacked before due to lack of first team minutes which he’s now getting

Spurs Web Opinion
It is important we do not get carried away by Walker-Peters’ performance on Sunday. The defender has to show that he can put in a similar standard of performance on a consistent basis.
I am still not convinced that he is defensively good enough for us. Even against City, the 23-year-old gave the ball away in dangerous areas on a couple of occasions and was beaten to a header from close range by David Silva, who should have scored.
While Walker-Peters is clearly talented, I suspect he is not aggressive or strong enough to play in Jose’s backline. I fully expect the youngster to be sold this summer.
