Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Antonio Conte has made it clear to the club behind the scenes that he wishes to hang on to Hugo Lloris, and some Spurs fans seem to agree.
With Lloris’ current contract at Tottenham running out at the end of the season, some reports over recent weeks have claimed that the North London club are on the lookout for his long-term successor.
However, The Athletic reported on Monday that there is a ‘quiet confidence’ that the club will be able to agree on a new deal with the Tottenham captain.
It was explained that discussions have been ongoing between the 34-year-old’s representatives and the club, and that the talks are expected to intensify over the ‘coming weeks’.
Gold has now revealed that Conte has taken an instant liking to the Tottenham goalkeeper since arriving at the club and rates him highly.
The Spurs boss has allegedly been speaking to Lloris about his contract situation and is said to have told him that he wants him to stay.
In addition, the journalist claims that Conte has also told the club that he wants to keep the France number one and that Tottenham are hopeful they could convince the goalkeeper to extend his contract.
