Serie A club deny claims regarding Spurs target’s contract negotiations

AC Milan have denied claims that they have asked for Mino Raiola to be left out of their contract negotiations with rumoured Tottenham target Alessio Romagnoli.

Romagnoli’s current contract at the San Siro runs out at the end of the season and Milan have thus far been unable to agree on terms on an extension with the defender.

Calciomercato.it reported last week that the Milan star is one of the players Antonio Conte has specifically asked Tottenham to bring in during January.

TuttoJuve24 have revealed that the 26-year-old is also on Juventus’ radar but the Old Lady are thought to be concerned that Spurs will swoop for the central defender following Conte’s arrival in North London.

Gazzetta dello Sport recently provided an update on Milan’s efforts to tie the defender down to a new contract.

They claimed that the Rossoneri want Romagnoli’s agent Raiola left out of the negotiations and that the Serie A club want the centre-back to lower his wage from £99k per week to around £57k per week due to their mounting debt.

Milan have now taken to social media to deny those reports, insisting that they maintain cordial relationships with all agents.

Given Milan’s financial position, it is difficult to see how they are going to strike an agreement with both Kessie and Romagnoli on new contracts.

Given how sought after both players are, neither is likely to agree to a wage reduction.

Tottenham thus have a great market opportunity to potentially snap up two top-class players for cut-price fees (if not on a free transfer in the summer).
