Serie A expert claims Spurs are ‘best of the bunch’ for former Arsenal star

Italian football expert Conor Clancy believes that Aaron Ramsey would be a good fit for Tottenham, amidst reports linking the former Arsenal man with a move to the Lilywhite side of North London.

Ramsey has struggled to make the expected impact since arriving at Juventus on a free transfer in 2019 after his contract with Arsenal ran out.

The former Gunners star was first rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar during last summer’s transfer window but the move did not materialise.

Reports from Italy emerged a few months ago that the Lilywhites could make a move for Juve star this summer, with Spanish publication Sport even asserting last month that the Old Lady were in ‘advanced negotiations’ over the sale of the Wales international with both Spurs and Wolves.

Juventus are allegedly keen to get Ramsey’s salary off their wage bill, with Liverpool and Everton also being credited with an interest in the 30-year-old.

Clancy believes that Ramsey can come good at Spurs despite his struggles at the Allianz Stadium over the past 18 months.

When asked about the speculation linking the former Arsenal man with a move to Spurs, The Forza Italian football editor told ThisIsFutbol: “In terms of level now, Spurs are the best of the bunch.

“He’s still a good player, but it’s one of those moves that hasn’t worked out for a lot of reasons.

“Juve have changed coach a few times, Ramsey hasn’t managed to stay fully free of injuries and when he has played, he’s shown something.

“But on the whole, it has been disappointing for him here.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect Paratici’s appointment by Spurs is the main reason Ramsey is being linked with a move to the Lilywhites this summer. The 30-year-old does not fit the bill for what we need and he will likely not want to ruin his Arsenal legacy by joining Tottenham.
