Sessegnon opens up on Conte, injuries, and kickstarting his Spurs career now

Ryan Sessegnon has been speaking to the press ahead of Tottenham’s Europa Conference League match against NS Mura in Slovenia this week.

The youngster is now back from his loan spell with Hoffenheim and fully recovered from his latest injury, even making a cameo against Leeds United at the weekend.

The England youth starlet replaced Sergio Reguilon for the final 15 minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, even scoring a goal late on, although it was chalked off for an offside in the build-up.

Sessegnon enjoyed a successful loan spell away from North London last season, playing 29 games in all competitions for Hoffenheim, including two goals and three assists.

Spurs signed the former Fulham man back in 2019 for £25m and he is now hoping to finally kickstart his N17 career under Antonio Conte.

In the press conference ahead of NS Mura on Thursday, Sessegnon opened up on his injuries, working under Conte and kickstarting his Tottenham career.

He said (Football London): “For me it’s massive, you say to really kickstart your career as it has been stop-start since I’ve been at the club. It’s a big opportunity and I’m looking forward to it.

“It’s been tough. It’s a time now when I can really kick on and show what I can do.

“When I was at Fulham I was young and playing every game. In football, things don’t always go your way, ups and downs in your career. This could be a chance to kickstart my career. I’m just looking forward to the future now.”

On life under Conte, he added: “We do a lot of tactics work on the pitch. It’s very clear. The physical side we have done a lot of running.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I am really excited to see what back-up and competition Sessegnon can provide to Sergio Reguilon this season at left-wing-back. I think they each present great options there and will give Spurs real strength on the left side.
