Seven academy youngsters spotted training with first-team ahead of Everton clash

Seven youngsters from the Tottenham academy were pictured training with the first team ahead of Spurs’ trip to Goodison Park tomorrow evening.

Jose Mourinho has a reputation of preferring players who are tried and tested at the top level over young players with potential.

However, the Portuguese coach remarked in his first press conference as Spurs boss back in 2019 that he is happy to give opportunities to academy players if they are good enough.

The 58-year-old has arguably stayed true to his word since arriving at the club, handing both Japhet Tanganga and Troy Parrott their Premier League debuts last season and also giving plenty of opportunities to Oliver Skipp.

The likes of Dane Scarlett, Jack Clarke, Alfie Devine, Harvey White, Marcel Lavinier and Nile John have all made their senior bows for the club this campaign.

It remains to be seen how long Mourinho will last at Tottenham as the speculation about his future continues in light of the team’s struggles.

However, it appears as if the Spurs boss is determined to do his part for the young talent coming through the ranks, with several new faces pictured in first-team training this week.

Mourinho was pictured putting the likes of Elliot Thorpe, Brooklyn Lyons-Foster, J’Neil Bennett, Rodel Richards, Kion Etete, Jamie Bowden and George Marsh through their paces at Hotspur Way yesterday.
