Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left extremely impressed with Jack Clarke’s performance in the pre-season friendly against Ipswich Town on Saturday.
Tottenham overcame Paul Lambert’s side 3-0 courtesy of an early goal from Ryan Sessegnon and a quick brace from Son Heung-min.
While the home side did not trouble the Ipswich goal after the interval, Jose Mourinho gave several of the club’s youngsters an opportunity to show what they can do in the second half.
Among them was Clarke, who has had an extremely disappointing season last time out as he failed to make an impact during loan spells at Leeds and QPR.
In fact, some Spurs fans were worried that the club had wasted the £10million they spent in order to snap him up from Elland Road last summer.
However, the winger showed glimpses of real quality against Ipswich as he and Gedson Fernandes posed plenty of problems down the right-hand side.
Some Spurs fans were left pleasantly surprised by the 19-year-old’s positive showing:
Jack Clarke has worked hard with an agency over summer to improve his game.
There’s shades of Cristiano Ronaldo in his ability and ceiling.

I thought Jack Clarke looked really dangerous when he came on. Very busy and not afraid to run at defenders, something we lack at the moment with the first team I feel. But good performances all.round really COYS

Jack Clarke & Dennis Cirkin seemed to play with a lot of confidence today, if they can keep this up I could see them being used throughout the season.

I thought Jack Clarke started off really well but then few mistakes crept in. But there’s something there imo just like way he moves he kind of glides and good size about him. Just needs build his confidence actually hope we keep him this season needs feel part of the club ?

Unpopular Opinion: I’d rather see Jack Clarke as an option from the bench over Lamela.

I thought Jack Clarke had a bit of skill, good to at last see what we have bought. Another season on loan and see what we have then. #COYS

How things have changed with just one friendly game. Jack Clarke was the butt of the jokes form our fans, yet now everyone seem to love him. Just shows how fickle we as fans are. But well done lad, keep working hard and earn yourself a place at least on the bench. #COYS #THFC

Spurs Web Opinion
Clarke looked extremely tidy on the ball and showed positive attacking intent in possession. He certainly showed glimpses of why he was rated so highly at Leeds. However, it was not a flawless performance by the youngster by any means. One of the main reasons fans are raving about his display is due to their reduced expectations on the back of the disappointing loan spells he had last season. Hopefully, we loan him out to a club where he plays more games next season and builds his confidence.
