‘Shades of Cristiano Ronaldo ‘ – Some Spurs react to youngster against Ipswich Town

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left extremely impressed with Jack Clarke’s performance in the pre-season friendly against Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Tottenham overcame Paul Lambert’s side 3-0 courtesy of an early goal from Ryan Sessegnon and a quick brace from Son Heung-min.

While the home side did not trouble the Ipswich goal after the interval, Jose Mourinho gave several of the club’s youngsters an opportunity to show what they can do in the second half.

Among them was Clarke, who has had an extremely disappointing season last time out as he failed to make an impact during loan spells at Leeds and QPR.

In fact, some Spurs fans were worried that the club had wasted the £10million they spent in order to snap him up from Elland Road last summer.

However, the winger showed glimpses of real quality against Ipswich as he and Gedson Fernandes posed plenty of problems down the right-hand side.

Some Spurs fans were left pleasantly surprised by the 19-year-old’s positive showing:

Clarke looked extremely tidy on the ball and showed positive attacking intent in possession. He certainly showed glimpses of why he was rated so highly at Leeds. However, it was not a flawless performance by the youngster by any means. One of the main reasons fans are raving about his display is due to their reduced expectations on the back of the disappointing loan spells he had last season. Hopefully, we loan him out to a club where he plays more games next season and builds his confidence.
