Shearer picks Heung-min Son and 23-year-old Spurs star in Team of the Week

Alan Shearer has included Cristian Romero along with hat-trick hero Son Heung-min in his Premier League Team of the Week.

Son was the star of the show at Villa Park as he took all of his three goals with ruthless efficiency. The South Korean gave the away side the lead in the 3rd minute of the game as he struck a perfect volley with his left foot after Harry Kane’s effort was blocked.

He then got on the end of Kane’s flick-on to double his tally in the second half before finishing impressively from the edge of the box to bring up his hat-trick after being picked out by Dejan Kulusevski.

Shearer labelled the 29-year-old’s performance as ‘perfect’ and insisted that the forward was the difference between the two teams.

He told Premierleague.com about Son: “Three shots on target. Three goals. It was a perfect performance in a match where clinical finishing was the difference.”

Shearer also heaped praise on Romero for the way he defended aggressively in the first half when Villa were putting the away side under pressure.

The Newcastle legend said about the Argentine: “Defended on the front foot, throwing himself at everything as Spurs weathered a storm in the first half and then eased to a commanding win.”

Spurs Web Opinion

When Son is in this kind of form, there are not too many better forwards in the Premier League. Thankfully for our top four hopes, the South Korean seems to be hitting another purple patch at just the right time, after a few lacklustre performances until the start of March.
