Sheringham claims Mason ‘deserves the England job’ if he wins Carabao Cup

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking ahead to their biggest game of the season tomorrow in the Carabao Cup Final against Man City at Wembley.

The Lilywhites have struggled in the Premier League this year and come up against the champions-elect who are also still fighting in the Champions League.

This is a rather daunting position to be in even with an experienced manager at the helm but Daniel Levy and co decided to sack Mourinho last week just six days before the cup final.

Ryan Mason, the 29-year-old former Spurs academy man, was put in charge of the team on an interim basis until the end of the season and started with a win against Southampton.

He will be hoping that the infamous new manager bounce will give his team the lift they need heading into the Wembley showdown on Sunday.

Spurs legend, Teddy Sheringham, would certainly be impressed if the youngest manager in Premier League history pulled it off. He even went as far as saying that Mason would deserve the England job!

When asked if Mason should get the job if he wins the Carabao Cup and gets top four, Sheringham said: “If he wins the Carabao Cup, he deserves the England job let alone the Tottenham job.

“That’s how big the chance is, they are massive underdogs in a two-horse race. To have a 29-year-old in his second game is just unheard of! I don’t even think he could write that script in his wildest dreams.”

Sheringham was talking to The Spurs Web via Zoom ahead of Sunday’s Cinch Drive-in Final event which is showcasing the league cup final for Spurs fans’.

Cinch are hosting a drive-in screening of the Carabao Cup Final for Spurs fans this Sunday.

Cinch are the official shirt sleeve partner of Tottenham Hotspur, for more information visit https://www.cinch.co.uk/
