Sherwood offers negative view ahead of Spurs’ trip to Leeds following Burnley loss

Tim Sherwood believes that Leeds United are capable of beating Tottenham Hotspur following the North Londoners’ lacklustre display at Burnley.

Tottenham fell to their fourth loss in their last five Premier League matches at Turf Moor on Wednesday.

The post-match comments by Conte (Football.London), where he hinted that he might not be the man to turn the club’s form around, have added even more fuel to the fire.

According to reports, Tottenham expect Conte to soldier on despite his comments on Wednesday (Daily Mail).

In his press conference earlier today, the Spurs boss also apologised for his outburst and insisted it often takes him a day to cool off from a defeat (Football London).

The Lilywhites now travel to Leeds, who are also in a terrible run of form at the moment and look in serious danger of being sucked into a relegation battle.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men have conceded 13 goals in their last three matches against Liverpool, Manchester United and Everton.

However, Sherwood believes that Leeds have enough quality in their squad to get out of their current predicament, and insisted that they could turn Spurs over on Saturday.

The former interim Spurs boss told Premier League Productions (23/02/22): “They need Kalvin Phillips back, they need Bamford back and they need to not play against top-quality sides like Liverpool and Man City, of this world.

“They need to play against the Brentford’s. The Norwich’s. Watford’s. And the teams in and around them.

“Tottenham are beatable. After the Lord Mayor’s show against Man City, they go to Burnley and get turned over. They can beat Tottenham.

“Can they beat anyone on what we saw? It’s hard to believe they can beat anyone. I still think they will get enough wins. I think they have done enough to stay up.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Conte has essentially taken the nuclear option with his post-match comments on Sunday. So this can only go one of two ways.

It will either inspire a real statement performance from the Spurs players or it will put them under such immense pressure that they crumble if things do not go their way.

I dread to think what will happen if we fall to another defeat at Elland Road on Saturday.
