‘Shocking decision’ – Some Wolves fans react to reports Spurs have signed Matt Doherty

Some Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have reacted less than favourably to reports that Tottenham Hotspur have signed their first-team right-back, Matt Doherty.

The Irishman has been one of the most consistent full-backs in the league for the past two years and is now said to be trading Molineux for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Miguel Delaney from the Independent reported earlier this week that Spurs were set to pay just £12m upfront for Doherty, with a potential further £4m in add-ons.

TalkSport also reported today that Tottenham have now completed the signing of the Wolves man.

With Doherty having been one of the mainstays in the Wolves defence during their promotion efforts in League One and the Championship, as well as their quest for European football last season in the Premier League, some fans have been left unhappy by the news.

The Irish full-back made 302 appearances and scored 28 goals in his 10 seasons at the club (Wikipedia).
