The Independent’s Miguel Delaney has revealed a shocking reason why Tottenham Hotspur are yet to pull the plug on Igor Tudor’s stay at the club.

Calls for Tudor to be sacked have hit a fever pitch following Tottenham’s debacle at Atletico Madrid, which was the club’s fourth loss in a row since the Croat arrived through the door.

In fact, according to reports, the Spurs players have already lost faith in the Croatian coach, with many in the dressing room shocked by his approach and his decisions.

Many may have expected the 47-year-old to leave immediately after the embarrassing loss in Madrid, and it has now been suggested that there is only one reason why the former Juventus boss is still in the job.

Managers have turned down Spurs job

Miguel Delaney has now revealed that Spurs are not sticking with Tudor because they have faith in him to turn things around.

Instead, the club simply do not have an obvious choice to turn to after several managers made it known that they are not keen on taking on the Tottenham challenge.

Delaney wrote in his Inside Football newsletter for The Independent: “If there’s considerable surprise that Tottenham Hotspur haven’t replaced Igor Tudor yet, multiple sources now insist it isn’t down to any debate about the decision. It is largely because the club have no obvious choice as to who to replace him with.

“I have been told that a number of managers have made it known that they do not want to take on the challenge. There are a range of reasons for this, but one of the biggest is that they don’t want the potential stigma of taking such a huge club down. Some are doubting whether it’s worth it. They see the risk and pressure as far too great.

“Sean Dyche has been raised as an option but, as reported in The Independent, he is understood to be reluctant to take a short-term role, and there may even be complications from his settlement with Nottingham Forest. As it is, there is nothing obvious for Spurs. Sources insist they are reluctant to go down the route of club legends – such as Glenn Hoddle or Harry Redknapp – but might their hand be forced?”

Who are the Igor Tudor replacements Tottenham have in mind?

Apart from the Dyche rumours mentioned by Delaney, it has also been reported over recent days that Tottenham have contacted Robbie Keane about replacing Tudor.

It has even been suggested that Ryan Mason could also be in line to take over as Spurs’ interim boss for the third time after he departed from West Brom.

According to some sources, Tudor could be given until the Nottingham Forest clash next week to save his job.
