Some Spurs fans are quite bewildered by the club’s reported interest in Chelsea attacker Willian as they don’t believe the 31-year-old will improve the squad substantially.
Willian’s contract with Chelsea is running out at the end of the season and there is no indication that he is close to penning a new deal with the club as of yet.
A recent report in the Daily Mail claimed that Spurs are expected to offer the pacey wide-man a two-year contract in the summer in the hope that they can convince him to make a switch to North London.
However, while Mourinho might be keen on reuniting with Willian, some Spurs fans questioned if his signing will make any sense for the club moving forward.
While a few did back the idea of signing the Brazilian, many others questioned the logic of signing someone who has the same attacking output as the likes of Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela.
Here’s how some Spurs fans reacted to the rumours linking the Blues star with a move to Tottenham:
Why? We have Son, Bergwijn, Lucas, Lamela, Sessegnon

We already have one inconsistent Brazilian winger.
Why would the club think it’s wise to add another who is even more inconsistent despite having more in his locker?
A good season for Willian is like 8 goals in 40 apps ???? Levy shopping from Poundland again https://t.co/gjgajwe2pl

It’s because he’s at the end of career and will cost a pound

Willian still quality, better than moura for me. I know spurs fans won’t like it but mourinho loves him.

The Premier League didn't die so I had to listen to months of Willian to Spurs transfer rumors.

I do like Giroud, Dexter. Willian I think wouldn't be so popular with Spurs fans sadly. He's done us in a few times. But if it's free I don't see why not. I'm concerned he'll bump out Lucas. I quite like Lucas. ?♂️

only problem is Willian averages like maybe 10 goals (in all comps) a season ..
We already have Moura for that— SpursSignSomeoneGoodInSummer (@SpursTransfer10) March 12, 2020
If Willian is available then buy him .Kante would be ideal also ,he's been played out of position at the Bridge . Chelsea might just block any sale to Spurs out of spite.

We went from Pochettino and Eze to Mourinho and Willian. https://t.co/vTLSTGb1ZU

Spurs Web Opinion
I actually believe that Willian can be a fantastic option to bring on from the bench, particularly in games which are stretched towards the end. While we are fairly well stocked in the wide attacking areas, if this season as shown us anything, it is that you can never have too many options.
