‘Showing a good commitment’ – Conte issues fresh update on Ndombele

Antonio Conte has admitted he has been impressed with Tanguy Ndombele’s commitment and attitude and could hand him the chance to shine when Tottenham host Morecambe in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.

Ndombele, 25, has rarely been utilised under the tutelage of the Italian coach, making just two starts since his arrival in early November.

Conte previously called for the French midfielder to put the team’s needs ahead of his own to make a real impact on the side and recently didn’t have much to say when quizzed on what he thinks Ndombele’s best role in the team is.

However, the former Inter Milan boss appears to have had a change of heart regarding Ndombele and says he could enter the fold when League One outfit Morecambe role into N17 this weekend.

In a press conference, Conte said (via Football.London): “Tanguy is showing a good commitment, a good attitude in training sessions. He has had an opportunity, a chance against Liverpool and then the second half against Chelsea.

“Probably he could play on Sunday in the FA Cup. I think every game is a good opportunity for every player that is not playing so much in the last period to show me that they deserve more consideration.”

Conte has often called for Ndombele to work harder and play a team game for him to earn more opportunities in the side, but the game against Morecambe should give him a chance to do that. He still hasn’t fulfilled his potential at Spurs, but he needs to prove that he deserves these opportunities to do that.
