Tottenham brushed Huddersfield aside with consummate ease on Saturday afternoon courtesy of a Lucas Moura hattrick and a goal from Victor Wanyama.
Pochettino made wholesale changes to the side that took to the field in the previous game against Manchester City but that didn’t affect the Lillywhites’ performance.
In fact, the likes of Fernando Llorente, Lucas Moura, Victor Wanyama, Kyle Walker-Peters, Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth, were all at the top of their game and staked their claim for a starting birth in the return leg against City.
Toby Alderweireld was among the players who were rested on Saturday but it appears the Belgian was impressed by the show his teammates put up.
The 30-year-old took to social media to congratulate the team on their performance, singling out Lucas Moura in particular for praise for his brilliant hat-trick.
Spurs fans predictably reacted to the Belgian’s message by asking him to put pen to paper on a new deal.
Check out how some fans reacted to the defender’s message:
10/10 defensive performance on Wednesday, Toby.

Still no goals conceded at the stadium. Great work! Now it’s time to put pen on paper and win some trophies all together. Our time is coming.
