Sissoko: ‘Mishaps are behind me’

He cost a club record £30million on transfer deadline day and has come in for heavy criticism from Tottenham Hotspur supporters, but Moussa Sissoko insists that he will prove the doubters wrong.

The French international’s inflated transfer fee was on the back of an impressive display during Euro 2016 with many Newcastle United fans taking to social media to laugh at the fact that we had paid an extortionate amount of money for the midfielder who they claim was never fully committed to the cause.

Everton fans also breathed a sigh of relief after Sissoko opted to move to White Hart Lane rather than Goodison Park.

However, Sissoko has cited a lack of a good pre-season along with some bad luck for the reason why Spurs fans have not seen the best of him.

In an interview with Sky Sports, he said: ‘It’s true that there has been a lot of mishaps.

‘My late signing, my lack of preparation for the season, my blow to the head against Middlesbrough, and this suspension.

‘When I arrived, I felt that my team-mates were aware of the amount of my transfer. I was not just any player, but I ignore all of this.’

‘I was not at the top when I signed, but that’s normal. They all worked well this summer while I had a mini-preparation.’
