Sky journalist reveals Everton have shown interest in Tottenham player

Journalist Kaveh Solheko has told Sky Sports’ The Transfer Show that Everton have shown an interest to sign Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele on loan.

Ndombele is reportedly considered surplus to requirements by Antonio Conte, with the Italian not said to be a fan of the midfielder’s attitude and work ethic (The Athletic).

Over the last week, Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as the front-runners to snap up the Frenchman, with the Ligue 1 giants said to be in talks with Spurs over a loan deal until the end of the season (Guardian).

GFFN reported yesterday that PSG had agreed to cover Ndombele’s full salary during his loan spell but Daniel Levy is yet to sign off on the deal since the Spurs chairman is ‘trying for something permanent’.

If Solheko’s latest update is to be believed, Mauricio Pochettino’s side could now face competition from Everton for the Spurs man.

The journalist claims that the Toffees have also expressed an interest in signing Ndombele on loan until the end of the season. However, he added that the 25-year-old’s preference would be to return to Ligue 1.

Ndombele has struggled to cope with the physical demands of the Premier League during his two and half years at Spurs.

I’m sure the midfielder would want to return to Ligue 1 rather than stay in England and join a struggling side.

He also comes across as a character who would be a lot happier back in France, playing alongside some of his international team-mates in the city where he was born.
