Sky pundit reveals what he has heard about Graham Potter’s future

Alan McInally has revealed that Graham Potter could be on his way out of Brighton amidst speculation linking him with the Tottenham job.

Tottenham have reportedly narrowed their chase down to just a few candidates, with a new appointment expected sooner rather than later.

Alasdair Gold previously named Potter as one of two candidates who ticks all the boxes for Spurs and also insisted that the Brighton boss would be a popular appointment among the current Tottenham squad.

Despite the fact that Brighton have finished 15th and 16th in Potter’s two seasons in charge, the Seagulls have received a lot of plaudits for their style of play.

It has also been claimed that Spurs’ Technical Performance Director, Steve Hitchen, who is likely to have a big say on the club’s managerial appointment, is also in favour of a move for the 46-year-old.

McInally believes that there is a feeling at the Amex Stadium that Potter could be on his way out.

Speaking about Brighton, the former Celtic striker said on Sky Sports News (1:39pm, May 23, 2021): “The manager is a huge problem. I have spoken to a few people within football.

“They generally think he will be involved in one of the bigger jobs for sure because he has done that well at Brighton.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Among the whole host of managers we have been linked with, Potter is the one that excites me the most. While finishing 16th with Brighton is nothing to shout about, he has demonstrated that he can improve players.

Like with Pochettino, Potter’s sides appear stronger than the sum of their parts. While there is definitely some risk involved with appointing the 46-year-old, the potential upsides are also high.
