Sky pundit says that Ben Davies has a big problem

The Tottenham contingent were away with their national sides this week, taking a well-earned break from Premier League football after an impressive three wins out of their first four games.

Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Kieran Trippier and Dele Alli were all called up to Southgate’s England squad, but one man in particular impressed with his display.

Danny Rose was a substitute in the first game against Spain after an injury forced Luke Shaw off the pitch, but it was in the friendly against Switzerland that the full back really showed his true colours.

The England left back was a constant threat down the left-hand-side, keeping up with play for the entire game, acting as a wing back, while continuing to do his job defensively.

It seemed like shades of Tottenham a few years back, when Kyle Walker and Danny Rose dominated the channels, sprinting back and forth for full games.

Rose’s display was so impressive that Jamie Carragher believes Welshman Ben Davies may have some real competition for the starting left back position at Spurs.

Carragher said: “I think it’s about time we saw the real Danny Rose. He had pace, power and energy and, to be honest, you’d never think he’d lose his place to Ben Davies.

“But Pochettino might be watching that thinking that Ben Davies might have a problem now, if he continues that form.”

After starting the game against United, Tottenham’s biggest so far this season, and impressing on duty for England, could Danny Rose start against Liverpool this weekend?
