Sky reporter claims Spurs have been ‘frustrated’ with bids received for £27m star

Tottenham Hotspur and Ajax remain ‘miles apart’ in their respective valuations of Steven Bergwijn, Michael Bridge has revealed on Twitter.

The Sky Sports reporter claims that Tottenham have been left frustrated by the bids which have been received from the Dutch club to date.

Bergwijn revealed in an interview with Dutch news outlet Algemeen Dagblad last week of his desire to leave north London this summer in order to play regular first-team football.

The former PSV winger, who joined for £27million in 2020 (BBC) has found himself behind the likes of Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura, Dejan Kulusevski and Harry Kane in Antonio Conte’s pecking order.

The 24-year-old is said to want to secure his place in the Dutch national squad for this winter’s World Cup in Qatar, having experienced disappointment in missing the final cut for Louis van Gaal’s selection for Euro 2020.

Ajax are said to have attempted to sign Bergwijn during the January transfer window but were unable to secure a switch with Conte having been keen to retain the left-footer for the remainder of the campaign (Football.London).

Ajax are playing a risky game in trying to low-ball Tottenham with offers below their asking price, especially with rumours suggesting there are Premier League clubs who are also keeping tabs on his situation.

Bergwijn does need regular first-team football and unfortunately, he finds himself behind some quality players at Tottenham.
