Sky Sports claim these stats prove that Hugo Lloris is an underrated keeper

Tottenham Hotspur’s Hugo Lloris is certainly a figure who divides opinion. Is he world-class? Is he overrated? Is he underrated? Sky Sports believe they have the answer.

The Frenchman is certainly prone to a number of mistakes between the sticks, but he also pulls off some sensational saves and has a World Cup winner’s medal as captain.

Since the 2012/13 season, Lloris has made 18 errors leading to goals in the Premier League, the second-highest out of any keepers during this time. However, the Frenchman has been around longer than most.

Sky Sports also show that nine of these errors came in games against the big six, despite Lloris only playing 66 big six games and 182 games against other teams.

However, Lloris also has the most goals saved since 2013/14 out of all current Premier League keepers with at least 50 appearances. Lloris has 32.81, with Fabianski in second with 21.76.

Lloris has also saved more shots than expected every season since 2013/14 apart from the 2017/18 campaign.

Hugo has the most passes inside his own half since 2015/16, over 1,000 more than any other Premier League keeper. He also has the most accurate keeper sweepings during this time with 123.

Is Lloris the most underrated keeper in the league?
