Sky Sports journalist makes loan prediction for Spurs man in January

Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge has said that he expects Ryan Sessegnon to depart the club on loan in January.

Sessegnon, 21, joined Tottenham from Fulham in 2019 in a deal worth £25 million, but has had issues making his mark in North London.

He has made just 14 appearances in all competitions for the club, in what has been a stint lacking consistency and hindered by niggling injuries.

Sessegnon spent the majority of last season on loan with Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim where he enjoyed a positive spell in Germany, but has made just two appearances on his return to Spurs.

He suffered a knockback in September and has missed 12 games for the club since, but he would likely have been deployed in the club’s participation in the Europa Conference League.

Sky Sports’ Bridge believes Sessegnon needs a change of scenery from Tottenham, and claims the January transfer window would be a good opportunity for him to secure a move, albeit a loan, to a side where he can gain some consistent minutes.

He told GiveMeSport: “I’d imagine he will go out on loan in January if he’s fit. That would be my prediction.”

A change of scenery could be good for Sessegnon again, as we were able to see the success he had while at Hoffenheim. Injuries certainly haven’t helped him during his time at Spurs, but he is still young and he can show that he is able to offer the club something. He could see a left-wing-back spot open up soon though.
