Lucas Moura has said that he is delighted to see his Tottenham teammate Richarlison shining on the world’s biggest stage for Brazil.

Richarlison is very much in the race for the Golden Boot, with the 25-year-old currently two goals behind France’s Kylian Mbappe (BBC Sport). The Spurs star will fancy his chances of winning the award if Brazil go all the way in the competition.

The forward has arguably also scored two of the best goals in the tournament so far – producing a sensational overhead kick in the 2-0 win over Serbia, before starting and finishing a lovely team goal in Brazil’s round-of-16 clash against South Korea.

Richarlison will be looking to add to his tally when the Selecao take on Croatia this evening for a place in the final four of the competition.

Moura is no stranger to the pressure and privilege that comes with wearing the Brazil shirt, with the winger having won 35 caps for his country.

When asked about Richarlison’s goal against Serbia, the former Paris Saint-Germain man told Tottenham’s official website:  “That goal was incredible. There are a few things to analyse. One, it’s an unbelievable goal. Two, it’s at the World Cup.

“Three, he’s wearing the Brazil shirt, following players like Ronaldo, Romario, amazing players who have worn that shirt. It’s a special moment for him, and we’re all so happy for him because he’s such a special guy.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If France and Mbappe are knocked out in the quarterfinal (which is very much a possibility), Richarlison becomes the favourite to win the Golden Boot as this Brazil team have shown that they are capable of creating a lot of chances, given the attacking talent they have in their ranks.
