‘So much better than us’ – Some fans react to the first half against Chelsea

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting on social media with their thoughts on the first-half performance they have witnessed against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea this evening.

The first clear chance of the game fell to Chelsea after ten minutes when a piece of poor marking from Ben Davies allowed Romelu Lukaku to get goal-side and the Belgian saw his shot well-saved by Pierluigi Gollini.

The deadlock was broken on sixteen minutes when a Chelsea corner saw Gollini fail to make contact with the ball after his attempted punched clearance and the ball hit Rudiger and found its way into the back of the net.

Antonio Conte’s side lacked the confidence to look to threaten the Chelsea goal and showed very little movement in the final third of the pitch to engineer space for an attack.

Harry Kane was inches away from pulling a goal back just after the half-hour mark when he could not reach Davinson Sanchez’s flicked header at the back post.

Spurs thought that they had earned a penalty prior to the break when Rudiger felled Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg with Andre Mariner pointing to the spot, only for VAR to rule that contact was made outside of the area.

This is what some fans have had to say about the first forty-five minutes of action at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with their side losing 3-0 on aggregate.
