Graham Roberts has praised Tottenham’s solid defensive showing at Stamford Bridge and hailed debutant Joe Rodon, Serge Aurier, Moussa Sissoko and Sergio Reguilon for their performancess.
The 0-0 draw will certainly not go down as a classic but it proved a vital point for Spurs, who went back to the top of the table on the back of the result after Liverpool were held to a draw at Brighton on Saturday.
The game took up a predictable pattern, with Jose Mourinho’s men defending deep and trying to hit Chelsea on the counter.
Spurs looked quite threatening when they broke in the first-half but the home side took control of proceedings after the interval and put the Tottenham defence under more pressure.
However, the North Londoners held firm at the back, with Joe Rodon putting in a solid display in his first start for the club, barring a couple of unforced errors which almost cost his side the game.
Roberts identified Rondon, Sissoko as well as both full-backs as Spurs’ best players last evening:
Not at our best attacking but kept so solid and that’s vital great point. and for me Joe Rodon superb and @Serge_aurier superb again and @sergio_regui also @MoussaSissoko very disciplined in his role ! COYS
