‘Soldado all over again’ – Some Spurs fans beg club not to sign Real Madrid man

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left shocked to hear about the club’s rumoured pursuit of Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez this summer.

Vazquez has been a loyal servant for Real Madrid over the years, having gone on to make more than 200 appearances for the Los Blancos first-team (transfermarkt.com).

However, the 28-year-old has seen his playing time being limited this season under Zinedine Zidane.

According to a report in The Mirror (via The Express), Tottenham are closing in on a deal for the winger, who Jose Mourinho is said to be a big fan of.

The report alleges that the Spanish international could be available for £16million plus add ons, with Real Madrid ready to cash in on him this summer.

However, some Spurs fans questioned the logic behind going after another winger when there are areas in the squad which need to be addressed.

A few also questioned if Vazquez has the necessary quality to be an upgrade for Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

I disagree with fans who think we are set as far as wide players are concerned. With Erik Lamela and Dele Alli fighting it out for the number 10 role and Ryan Sessegnon likely to be primarily used at left-back, we only really have three natural wide options in Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn and Son Heung-min. I believe Jose wants to bring another winger in to have four players competing for two spots. I personally think Vazquez would be a decent squad option for us given the experience he has under his belt.
