Solskjaer discusses Pochettino’s link with Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur will welcome Manchester United to Wembley on Sunday in what will be a crucial match for both sides.

While Tottenham have been almost flawless in the past couple of months baring a slip up against Wolves at home, there were signs of tired legs in the second half against Chelsea on Tuesday evening.

Manchester United meanwhile have completely turned their form around since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as the interim manager until the end of the season. The Red Devils have won every game under the Norwegian so far, playing attacking football and scoring lots of goals along the way.

However, the game against Tottenham on Sunday represents Solskjaer’s first real test and if their former forward wishes to get the job full-time next season, then winning this game would do his prospects no harm.

Pochettino has been rumoured to be United’s number one target to take over next season. Solskjaer was asked about the speculation linking Pochettino with the job before the game and he said he wasn’t surprised by the speculation.

Speaking to The Guardian, Solskjaer said: “The speculation is there for a reason because he’s done well. But it’s not my job to rate different managers. My focus is on me and my team.”

The caretaker boss also said that his side will not be afraid to attack Spurs and take the game to the home team at Wembley.

He added, “They are one of the best in the league so we have to be aware of their strengths. But we need to attack teams, that is our strength – going forward, attacking. We have to.”
