‘Some English club asked us’ – Fiorentina chairman gives Vlahovic update amidst Spurs links

Fiorentina’s Chief Executive Officer Joe Barone has admitted there has been interest from England in rumoured Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic and the club are still open to offers for the striker.

Antonio Conte allegedly made it clear as soon as he took over as Spurs boss back in November that he wanted the club to prioritise a deal for Vlahovic (Gazzetta dello Sport).

Italian football agent Massimo Brambati has said that Conte wants to pair the Serbian up front with Harry Kane (TMW Radio via TuttoJuve).

Over recent weeks, Arsenal have emerged as the leading contenders to snap up the 21-year-old in January (Football.London).

However, 90 min suggested this week Vlahovic is not convinced that a move to the Emirates would be the right next step for him and he would favour a transfer in the summer rather than this month.

Barone has now indicated that Fiorentina are still ready to listen to offers for Vlahovic but he seemed to hint that the striker’s entourage are not being transparent with the club regarding their plans.

The Viola chief told La Nazione (as translated by Fabrizio Romano): “Some English club asked us for Vlahović but there’s no agreement. We’re here, available.

“There are NO updates or communications from Vlahovic or agents. Zero. There are not even contacts with them. It’s always the same.”

Spurs Web Opinion

To me, it sounds like while Fiorentina are keen to cash in on Vlahvoic this month, the striker would prefer to leave the club in the summer.

All signs seem to point to the 21-year-old completing a cut-price move to Juventus in the summer.

Juve likely do not have the economic resources to meet Viola’s asking price this month, which is perhaps why the striker wants to delay the move.
