Some Spurs fans on social media have urged the club to snap up Tariq Lamptey from Brighton this summer on the back of the right-back’s impressive showing since the restart.
Lamptey, who came through Chelsea’s youth system, joined the Seagulls in the January transfer window.
The youngster has only made four Premier League appearances for Graham Potter’s side to date but has impressed both defensively as well as going forward (transfermarkt).
Signing a new right-back is reportedly one of Jose Mourinho’s priorities when the transfer window opens in the summer (Football Insider), with Norwich City’s Max Aarons being one of the names heavily linked with the North Londoners (The Athletic).
However, some Tottenham fans are convinced that Lamptey would be a much better addition instead of the Canaries defender.
Not only did some feel that Lamptey would be a better fit for Jose Mourinho’s side than Aarons would be, but they also suggested that the Brighton man could be landed for a lower transfer fee.
Here’s how they reacted to the teenager’s recent displays:
Lamptey should be on Spurs’ radar.

Lamptey would be a better signing for us than Max Aarons would be btw

Spurs are linked with Max Aarons for silly money but he’s no better than Tariq Lamptey who cost Brighton 3 mil

If Spurs fans are really gassed over young English full backs why are we talking about Aarons and not Lamptey? Much better player.

Lamptey at Brighton on the other hand…

The fact that Chelsea sold a 19-year-old right back in Tariq Lamptey for £4m that would walk into our squad speaks volumes.

Keep an eye on Lamptey, the Brighton RB. He’s some talent.

Aarons will be a avg shining. People want him have actally seen him play ? Lamptey gobbled him up yesterday and Aarons only made defensive errors leading to goal

Spurs Web Opinion
Aarons started off the season in really good form but his performances have dropped off recently and he has been found wanting on a few occasions. The same might happen to Lamptey once he has a run of games under his belt. While the early signs are promising, it is hard to make a judgement based on just a few matches.
