The shocking scenes at the Vasil Levski National Stadium on Monday night where a number of England’s stars were subject to racist chants from sections of the home crowd have understandably dominated the headlines.
Those unfortunate incidents have masked over what was an outstanding performance on the pitch by the Three Lions particularly considering the circumstances.
The team looked unrecognisable from the one that fell to a 2-1 defeat to the Czech Republic a couple of days before and dismissed the home side with ruthless efficiency in front of goal.
While there were several fantastic performances for England across the pitch Spurs pair Harry Kane and Harry Winks particularly excelled.
The England captain created three goals for his teammates before scoring one himself to cap off a great night. Winks was his typical busy self in the middle of the park, connecting the defence with the midfield and also shielding the back four well.
Some Spurs fans were quite proud of the pair’s showing on Monday
Well played Harrys. Kane – MY captain and Winksy controlling the tempo. Couldn’t be more proud ????? #COYS

Harry Winks has put in another great performance so far tonight. All round work rate, positional play, movement and passing has been what this England team have been missing.
And Harry Kane has been great in midfield too, with 3 assists…— SFC Spurs ?? ??????? (@sfcbdlm2) October 14, 2019
Mings, Chillwell and Winks were all superb tonight. Harry Kane lead like a true Captain. I’d love to see Mings and Chilwell at Spurs next season. Just what we need.

Penalty merchant Harry Kane getting a hat-trick of assists, you say?

Rice starts and England loses 2-1, Harry Winks starts and England wins 4-0. Coincident? I think not

Harry Kane’s passing sets him apart from the rest in his position, he’s literally England’s best playmaker and he’s a centre forward.

Harry Winks with more successful tackles in one minute than Declan Rice in 90.

Amazing what happens when you play Harry Winks instead of Declan Rice.

Spurs Web Opinion
Harry Kane continues to prove that he is the most complete striker in world football. He has the passing range, accuracy, and awareness to rival the best midfielders in the world. It will certainly be interesting to see how the battle between Harry Winks and Declan Rice for that holding midfielder role will progress this season.
