Some fans react to Jan Vertonghen’s tweet about his teammate’s new contract

Tottenham Hotspur defender and vice-captain, Jan Vertonghen, has taken to Twitter to celebrate his teammate and friend signing a new contract.

Spurs announced today that Moussa Sissoko had signed a new deal that would keep him at the club until 2023.

However, Jan Vertonghen’s own contract is set to expire in the summer of 2020, meaning that he can talk to non-English clubs about a pre-contract agreement in January, before leaving on a free at the end of the season.

Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen are at similar points in their own contracts too.

Despite being 32-years-old, Vertonghen is still seen as a first-choice player by Pochettino after a rocky start to the season by the Belgian, who was left out for the first few games.

Some Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to ask the centre back to get his signature on a new contract next. It remains to be seen whether Jan and Spurs can come to an agreement though.
