Some fans react to news that person at Spurs has tested positive for COVID-19

Tottenham Hotspur revealed today that one person at the club had tested positive after the latest round of COVID-19 testing.

The identity of the individual was not confirmed nor was it revealed whether it was a player or a member of the backroom staff.

The club did reveal that the individual who tested positive was asymptomatic and will self-isolate for seven days as per the Premier League’s guidelines.

Some Spurs fans on social media could not believe the club’s rotten luck and wished that the season would be called off.

Others saw the funny side of the incident and a few even suspected that it was Serge Aurier who was the one who tested positive after his numerous lockdown breaches.

The Ivory Coast international was caught breaching the lockdown guidelines on three occasions over the past couple of months.

Here’s how some fans reacted to the update from Tottenham about the positive result after the latest round of testing:

Given that there are a lot more backroom staff at the club than first-team players, the chances of it being a member of the staff is relatively high. So, we should not panic just yet. However, for all the excitement about finally having a fully fit squad, it would be pretty disappointing if it turns out it is a key player.
