Tottenham continued their run of redemption last night in the Carabao Cup as they inched past Watford, who were coincidently the club to kickstart Spurs losing streak earlier this month.
Spurs were playing the game at MK Don’s home ground Stadium MK, as Wembley was busy for the evening, and their new stadium is still unfinished.
One player who felt right at home was Dele Alli, who spent many years on MK Dons’ books before signing for Spurs.
Alli captained the side for the evening, and led them to a penalty shootout win against their Premier League rivals.
Watford led through Isaac Success in the second half, before Spurs scored two in quick succession from a Dele penalty and a Lamela breakaway goal.
It looked to be in the bag for the Lilywhites, but in typical Spurs fashion, they conceded a late deflected goal to ex-player Etienne Capoue.
Luckily, as the game went straight to pens, Tottenham were able to tuck all four of theirs away, with Gazzaniga picking up two saves along the way.
Some players and staff took to Twitter to react to the win:
